I created theCandidStreets as a way to share my love of the special moments found every day in the communities around me. I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, one of the most multicultural cities on the planet. On the streets of Toronto you’ll find the world coming together with almost every conceivable mash-up — personal, professional, cultural and political.
I grew up watching the interactions of the people around me and was always fascinated by the many little moments of magic to be found in even the simplest of exchanges. I found a love of photography at an early age, but after a series of back surgeries it was returning to photography again — and in particular street photography — that has helped me address chronic pain issues. This also encouraged a passion for helping others to use visual storytelling as therapy, and helping to document the challenges people face, medical or otherwise.
A public servant by day, I’m a passionate photographer in my free time working with both film and digital photography. I enjoy exploring various aspects of the history of photography, including historical photography techniques, lenses and approaches to composition in my own work.
I’m always interested in collaboration ideas, photo opportunities, meet-ups for photo walks or even to chat about photography issues, challenges or history. If you have an idea for a project, are interested in working together to achieve a specific vision, are interested in securing a copy one of my images (digital license or print), or have any other questions about my work, please don’t hesitate to contact me at email@example.com.
Thanks for stopping by.
